World of CYBERBUN: Jellybean

Jellybean, a wiry white rabbit, wears two distinct faces in his little corner of Pasturage City's lower sectors: mild-mannered used-electronics merchant by (late) day, elite hardware ghost throughout the night. By public account, he is merely the shy and slightly nervous proprietor of Beans Electronics, a cramped second-hand electronics shop smelling of dank ozone and melting solder. The locals who occasionally dash in for cheap power adapters at the end of their day remain completely unaware that the flickering displays lining the walls are hardwired into decentralized dark-net proxies.

Jellybean is a cautious but mild-mannered master computer engineer and inventor.

Situated on the edge of town near the Greensward Forest border, Beans Electronics is a handy place to know but an oddity to many. This cluttered mess of a store isn’t usually open during daylight hours, instead only coming to life at dusk and staying open until the first sight of dawn. This nocturnal workflow is partly driven by necessity: a rare genetic condition makes Jellybean’s vision hypersensitive to natural light, rendering daytime operation excruciating (the only colour he can comfortably look at is orange). However, Jellybean has found that it’s usually in the middle of the night that more unscrupulous customers are more desperate and willing to pay up more to get their paws on something that will help them in an imminent emergency. For many, 2am is peak dream time; for Jellybean, it’s peak business time.

Beans Electronics is possibly the last store at the edge of the city before the border of Greensward Forest.

However, it’s not all minor must-haves and outdated radios. Beneath the squeaking floorboards of this electronics haven lies a shielded basement cleanroom, and it’s amid this chaotic sea of scavenged microchips and stripped-down mainframes, Jellybean engineers bespoke tech for the city's underbelly. And while smugglers and gangsters are on waiting lists to buy his wares and keep him in business, his deepest technical loyalty belongs to the Inhibits.

Serving as the rebel group's primary hacktivist, Jellybean channels his most advanced hardware—custom surveillance scramblers and hardened tactical dampeners—exclusively to them. Yet his allegiance isn't born from ideological zeal; Jellybean simply wants to harass the Army. He blames them — specifically Dyce’s second-in-command, Captain Heath — for the disappearance of his father years prior. Though his father was indeed guilty of supplying radar blockers to the Emeraldi mafia, his arrest was followed by total erasure: no court appearance, no prison record, just a ghost. A juvenile Jellybean was left distraught, and the adult that followed has harbored a cold, calculated resentment toward the regime ever since.

Beneath the flicker of glowing monitor tubes and the suffocating hum of cooling fans, Jellybean works in the dark, soldering rebellion one circuit at a time. He isn’t fighting for a noble future; he is simply slowly settling an old score, waiting for the day Captain Heath’s network goes entirely dead.
